After aiding the new Ashburn Republic, Hal and the crew follow the path to Velra. It should be a homecoming for Hal and Kristilin but the planet has other ways to welcome them.
Republican and Matriarchal forces vie for control of the world and are locked in a bitter stalemate, and it soon becomes apparent that it's no ordinary civil war.
Tendrils of Madness run through Velra with the false matriarch at the seat of power. If nothing is done then Madness will claim another planet in the Realmverse.
But with faith in the Vels’ patron goddess, the walls of Madness may crack. For that to happen, Hal must find the Lumnis Stone of Frostlite and end the war. But there are other forces hoping to sway his judgement.
