When an FBI agent investigating a bioterrorism plot goes missing near Portland, the Bureau asks the Maine State Police for assistance. Lieutenant Karen Richmond is assigned to lead the investigation, and Professor Brad Parker is asked to use his overview of biomedical research in Maine to help locate a terrorist operation posing as a biotechnology company. Racing against time, they combine science with police work to sift through the state’s biotech roster and identify a likely culprit. Only to find themselves engaged in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with an adversary about to unleash an agent designed to start an epidemic of unparalleled destruction.
