A Fictional Account of A Factual Time
JJ is drowning in the shallow end of the American Dream. His toy store is a museum of MADE IN CHINA plastic, his fire-breathing ex-mother-in-law has custody of his daughters, and his best investment strategy involves lottery tickets and a remortgage. When his friend Ben—a vigilante with a penchant for Patrón—is gunned down over a shady investment, JJ’s last chance at redemption curdles into a conspiracy.
Suddenly, JJ is a pawn in a nation being stripped for parts. A Russian oligarch with a yacht and an ankle monitor wants him to find stolen data. A cartel kingpin, El Maldito (“The Cursed One”), thinks he’s the thief. And the damsel he thought was in distress might be trying to recruit him. To save his daughters, JJ must learn the one thing he's spent his life avoiding: how the machine really works. The rot isn't in the system; the rot is the system, and someone has to turn on the floodlights.
