Imagine a world where men are believed to be extinct.

Scorpion Grass takes readers into an upscale, high-concept matriarchal utopia that emerged following "the Shift" and the complete disappearance of men. In this seemingly perfect new world, violent crime, policing, and food insecurity have been entirely eradicated, replaced by an advanced system of psychological nurturing and proactive guidance.

The stability of this ideal society is shattered when a sculptor named Eve calmly confesses to a domestic murder—the first violent crime committed in generations. Elite psychologist Jorie Holmes is assigned by the Ministry of Nurturing and Guidance to evaluate and reform the killer. Jorie's investigation soon uncovers deep-seated secrets, forcing her from absolute certainty into severe moral ambiguity as she unearths a truth preserved for decades: the existence of humanity's last surviving man.
