When the law fails to hold the guilty accountable, is vengeance justified?
Detective Red Calendar is just getting her life back together after a very difficult case and beginning to take the next steps in her blossoming romance with single mom Jess Morgan when Jess’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Ronnie, a champion lacrosse player, is caught with a performance-enhancing drug in her gym bag.
While Red tries to support Ronnie, the city is rocked by two bizarre assassinations: an abusive husband is shot dead after a controversial acquittal, and an unidentified young woman is gunned down near a suspect accused of killing his infant child. Red uncovers similar cold cases: A fraternity brother who had drugged, raped, and drowned a coed was found dead in his swimming pool. The mastermind of a Ponzi scheme who ruined countless lives was murdered after being released from prison, thanks to the false confession of a co-conspirator.
As Red investigates these killings, current and cold, she doesn’t realize that a secret society of female avengers, all victims of abuse, has been orchestrating vengeance for years while living in plain sight as pillars of the community. When Red starts putting the pieces together, she moves to the top of the avengers’ hit list.
While trying to help Ronnie in her personal life and not knowing who to trust in her professional life, Red only hopes to survive long enough to enjoy her own new life with Jess and Ronnie.
