Welcome to Heron Key. The water's warm, the gossip's hot, and the sex is hotter.
Billie Beckett has a plan. Paint a mural in the sleepy Gulf Coast town of Heron Key, collect her check, and get back on the road before anyone gets the ridiculous idea that she might actually stay.
But there’s one very inconvenient distraction: the gorgeous and perpetually pissed-off charter captain whose boat is docked directly beneath her scaffolding.
Then a rollerful of turquoise paint goes sailing across the bow of his immaculate white boat.
Well. Now he's looking. As she goes face-first into the channel he watches the whole disaster unfold. What he’s trying not to watch, as she yells at him for sneaking up on her, is her soaking-wet, practically transparent white T-shirt.
Luckily, only one neighbor happens to catch the show. Unluckily for Billie, he is the worst gossip in town.
Jesse Vaughn is a widowed single dad who likes his boat spotless, his life predictable, and his heart safely out of reach. The last thing he needs is a barefoot chaos magnet of an artist dangling from her scaffolding directly above his slip for the next few weeks.
Unfortunately, Billie is impossible to ignore. Even more unfortunately, his six-year-old daughter thinks she's wonderful.
Billie thinks Jesse is an insufferable control freak. Jesse thinks Billie is a walking disaster. And the entire town seems to think watching them drive each other crazy is the best entertainment Heron Key has had in years.
The trouble is, their arguments are starting to sound suspiciously like foreplay. And the longer Billie spends on that scaffolding, the more Jesse finds himself imagining things that have absolutely nothing to do with painting.
Billie's only here for the mural. Jesse's already buried the woman he loved, and his little girl has lost more than any six-year-old should. Neither of them is looking for anything permanent.
A hot, no-strings affair between two consenting adults? That's one thing.
But there's no such thing as casual when a little girl's heart is caught in the middle.
Picture Not So Perfect is a spicy, laugh-out-loud small-town romantic comedy with a guaranteed happily ever after.
