Branko Barović is a former British Army soldier who has spent considerably more time than is probably sensible thinking about soldiers, strange places, bad decisions and what happens when an otherwise respectable plan goes spectacularly wrong.
His Army career provided plenty of experience of military life, questionable weather, uncomfortable accommodation and the curious ability of officers to make a simple problem considerably more complicated.
He now writes historical thrillers with a supernatural edge—combining military history, wartime intrigue, dark humour and things that sensible people would probably advise you not to investigate after dark. His novels span the Western Desert to Blackcraig Castle, though the ghosts, he insists, are entirely coincidental.
When he isn't writing, he can usually be found researching something he has absolutely no practical need to know, arguing with a manuscript, or wondering why nobody ever puts the kettle on when things start going badly.
He lives in England and remains convinced that most problems can be solved with a map, a decent cup of tea and, if necessary, a sergeant.
