Jay DeFazio is a licensed educator, artist, and writer. An independent consultant, he creates courses and workshops on a variety of topics from LGBTQ+ diversity in the workplace to allyship, arts integration, creativity, communication and storytelling through art.
As a trans activist and speaker, Jay has worked with many organizations in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky metro area including the Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati Opera, US Bank, the Art Academy of Cincinnati, NKY Pride Center, SOS Art, and countless local high schools across the area.
In 2020 Jay received ArtWorks’ Emerging Artist Award and launched “Inside Out,” a transgender visibility and empowerment project that still continues today. Working in small groups or virtually, Jay teaches trans and non-binary individuals to create self-portraits from a wide variety of art materials. The finished works are exhibited permanently in the project’s online gallery.
