Small stature, ancient magic, modern problems.
She’s small in size—only three inches tall—but she wields elemental secret magic, and is ready to take on any risk if it looks rewarding. The Little Witch lives each moment totally alive: to herself, to the currents of magic that course through her and the danger that feels so delicious. She’s a nonconformist. But one day she’s out exploring on her mach 10 broom, and stays out too late. She lives in a flower, and when the petals close, she needs to be inside, warm and snug—or she's locked out. One day she overshoots her flower, breaking it, and lands in the pond next to it, loosing her wand in the process and attracting her worst predator, the neighbor's wicked cat. Without a wand, she's little more than a helpless mortal being hunted. To survive she has to risk letting a mortal into her life, which every witch avoids. Life seems to want her to tackle that challenge, and she realizes it may be the hardest thing she’s ever done.
For the human being who is befriending her, it goes way beyond a casual acquaintanceship. She senses this magical, invisible being is a portal into a new dimension, an initiation into magic. Each struggle or brush with death brings two strong people closer together: one a witch who relies on magic and spells, and the other a survivor and lifelong fighter. They learn together to take the risk that’s more challenging than climbing Mt. Everest, that of deep friendship and trust. What they discover is a magic deeper than they've ever experienced before.
During the first part of the book, a whole world is created, and the reader is invited to enjoy the slowly unfolding everyday life of the Little Witch living in her flower. Then suddenly from one moment to the next, something happens that changes the characters’ lives forever. The plot leaps forward into a break-neck rhythm, and she’s surrounded by unpredictability and danger. Her wisdom of a life lived with no hesitation or thought to fear, becomes apparent and leads to relating to humans and other beings in ways that inspire trust, healing, and fearlessness.
