Ellie just wanted to fit in. Then her hands started glowing.
What would you do if you woke up in the middle of the night and your hands were glowing? Fifteen-year-old Ellie is trying to fit in, yet again, after her military family has moved from Germany to Florida to Massachusetts. It's hard enough being a teenager, juggling new classes, new activities, and new potential friends (and enemies), but to juggle it all while trying to fit in as the middle child at home is a bit much. She joins the swim team at her new school and finds herself excelling at something she loves to do. Then, one night, she awakens to find her hands glowing. At first, she thought she was just dreaming, but it keeps happening and not always at a convenient time. She's changing, and she doesn't understand why. So, when a strange boy from another swim team slips her a note, she starts to believe that perhaps she's not the only one who's having these glowing episodes. So much for blending in at school. Glowing hands certainly don't make for a popular teen girl. But Ellie's newfound powers do unlock the door to adventure, romance, and discovering reserves of courage and leadership ability that she never knew she had.
