A story about trauma, grief, and the hunt for a killer.
In July of 2002, a body is discovered in a run down apartment in Van Nuys, California. After Detective Gale Blue arrives on the scene, it becomes apparent that what she's witnessing is a murder staged to look like a suicide. One phrase at the end of the forcefully written note that the victim left behind is the very same as another apparent suicide that took place in the Sunset Strip two weeks prior.
‘For the sake of our species, I choose to end it here, so that others can live.’
While tracking down a killer who appears to choose his victims at random, old trauma rises to the surface. The PTSD from her previous partner's suicide one year ago starts to take hold. Throughout the investigation, she has to remind herself to do one thing…
In for four, hold for seven, out for eight.
