Yearning for the return of the bees, Sophie Mutiara Nova (they/them)—is a Queer, mixed Indonesian American, immunocompromised filmmaker and glittery garden fairy goth. They’re the Writing Fellow of Lambda Literary and the ACEX TV Initiative, and winner of the Launchpad Pilot Competition, ScreenCraft Horror Competition, and many other awards. Their fantastical short films have screened internationally—like at Cheryl Dunye’s and Madeline Lim’s QWOCFF (Queer Women of Color Film Festival). They’ve been featured in: Deadline, Book Riot, Macabre Daily, and more publications for their stories of the delightfully strange. Originally from Chicago, Sophie’s now based in Los Angeles where they possess a Dartmouth College BFA & an MFA in Film Directing from CalArts. They are represented by the wonderful Patricia Court Entertainment.
