I was eight years old when a schoolteacher gifted me a copy of the children’s fantasy classic, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I returned from my first visit to Narnia, knowing I wanted to be a writer.
A career in journalism followed, the personal highlight was being a film critic, which, apart from being great fun in itself, was a crash course in Hollywood storytelling. I love the epic scale and glorious characters that burst from the silver screen. My reviews are still on the Rotten Tomatoes site, somewhere. Probably.
My first published books were science fiction, choose-your-own-adventure books, based on the legendary submariner Captain Nemo. I followed this success with a fantasy series called Game of Runes.
Writing the Marian Chronicles is an absolute blast, and I hope the readers enjoy it as much as I do. I’m excited to bring the nine-book series to its powerful conclusion and write a spin-off nine-book series, provisionally titled Dragon Outlaw.
