In a world built to break him, mercy becomes his greatest risk.
Ashur
I don’t know where you’ve gone, or why you left without a word. The soldiers say you and Thyrius are as good as dead, that no one who enters returns, but I refuse to believe that. Both you and Thyrius came back before. I pray that you can come back again.
Every night I hear the wind carrying sounds I swear are your voices. I wake up hoping for a message, a sign, anything that tells me you and Thyrius are still out there. I don’t care what the others say—I know something is wrong. I can feel it in the ground, in the air, in the way the world has started to wane.
If you can read this, please come home.
If you can’t… then I’m coming to find you myself.
Whatever is coming—I won’t let it take you both.
