Will she walk into a demon's mouth to escape her lonely fate?
The Ghost's Truth is what happens when a cozy swords-and-sorcery Hallmark movie deconstructs into an apocalyptic cosmic horror, and then broadens further into a high fantasy adventure.
The infinite realms of Halbron are Beautiful and Terrible and Strange.
One such realm—a harsh, frozen place by the name of Spiramoote—is facing its doom. Perhaps if there was a hero among its citizens, Spiramoote’s fate could be changed. Instead, its tragic tale is centered around Si’Lanci Gnell, reclusive owner of the local soup shop with an infamous reputation. Deemed ‘too soft for Halbron’, Lanci is a simple mortal woman who has never held a weapon and faints at the sight of blood. Content with her life of solitude in the mountains, she dreams not of romance or glory, but of soup and her beloved pet geese.
But when Lanci’s brother is struck by a lust to explore Halbron’s faraway realms, trouble comes to their boring little home. Desperate to restore peace to her fractured family, Lanci forms an unlikely alliance with Vamiro Kunhema, Spiramoote’s newly appointed magical protector who can’t stand pain, cold weather, or being sober. Together, Lanci and Vam must overcome the trials of a drunken ghost, a portal door that never opens to the same place twice, and, worst of all, their own crippling insecurities.
All the while, the doom of Spiramoote watches and waits. Taulslocke the Bonebark Devourer, a tree demon with an appetite for human flesh and bone, ravages the realm in the course of a single night. In his wake, he leaves a Last Survivor and an ultimatum: walk into his mouth, or live in despair under his rapidly growing shadow.
