What horrors lie beyond your door?
Late at night, while you're all alone, you hear knocking on your door. But who—or what—could it be? Is it a friendly neighbor just stopping by to say hello? Or perhaps it's something else-something that sounds exactly like one of your long-dead loved ones. What if it's an extraterrestrial entity here to make first contact? Maybe it's an ancient evil on the other side of that portal, waiting patiently for the chance to devour your soul. It could be anything; the possibilities are endless. But you'll never know for certain until you release the deadbolt, remove the chain, turn the handle, and open that door.
A Rap on the Door is a collection of 15 fictional stories—some horror, some thriller, some sci-fi, and some fantasy—that all begin with the same simple premise: a knock on a door. Yet, in exploring the infinite possibilities that may lie just beyond that portal—be it something seemingly benign or impossibly terrifying—these stories seek to examine one of the deepest, most intimate parts of being human: fear.
