The truth, wholesale.
“Conspiracy is not a matter of madness or greed, but one of belonging.”
It is 2023, and a guerrilla marketing agency sets up shop in Modesto, Georgia, turning it upside down by spreading lies on the internet. Some might call it a "troll farm."
Walker Fry, a troubled young man, is quickly pulled into its orbit. Walker is a token of privilege, and he knows it; his new managerial role for the troll farm only reinforces the fact. From behind the scenes, Walker inadvertently kicks off a contentious mayoral campaign, a fixed boxing match, and a town-wide hunt for wild boars invading Modesto. He turns to a fellow conspirator, hoping for something real as the lies spiral out of control. Despite his best intentions, Walker is trapped in a pyramid scheme of influence and manipulation that threatens to corrupt him, and the town with it.
Like Pigs to Slaughter is a satire on ethics, enterprise, and community in the American South during the Disinformation Age. It reflects the universal struggle to find truth and camaraderie in a society drifting toward deception and self-preservation.
