Where there's a Molehill, there's bound to be mischief.
In Pickettstown, everyone is encouraged to live according to the status quo and not stand out. But when Mayor Jim Picketts tries to quash a local man’s efforts to paint his house bright green, the Molehill family can’t stand by and do nothing. Harwood Molehill decides to challenge Mayor Jim’s authority by running for mayor himself, but it quickly divides the town and puts a glaring spotlight on the Molehill family. The five Molehill kids are tasked with being on their best behavior. Unfortunately for middle-child Dempsey and his four siblings—practically-an-adult Brom, prim Tilly, pesky little brother Penn, and wild child Bandi—they have knack for finding themselves in the middle of mischief. Their “best behavior” includes bully-trapping mud pits, Halloween tricks, explosive meatloafs, and terrorizing classmates with Scrap the one-eared cat. Will their antics cost their dad the election? Or can the family band together to put the best Molehill foot forward?
The Mountain of Dempsey Molehill is a humorous middle grade novel about life in rural Illinois, small-town politics, and growing up in a big, rowdy family.
