Silas Grant killed six men in one morning. Bludgeon, bullet, and blade. Never again, he swears. Until he learns how pitiless consequences can be.
The quest to rescue David Crockett left Silas shot, bayoneted, and tormented. All he wants is to heal and build a life with red-haired, green-eyed Emily Perry, but happily ever after won’t come easy. Terror is engulfing Texas. A campaign of rape, torture, murder, mutilation, and kidnapping is being waged by people whose name means “enemy.” Comanches.
When the violence escalates, Silas faces the toughest decisions of his life. He makes all the right choices, only to discover sometimes there are no right choices, and sometimes doing the right thing exacts a devastating toll.
In the aftermath of tragedy, Silas exorcises remorse, studies slaughter under a master of revenge, and forges a savage weapon. He will unleash bloody wrath on those who have made themselves his enemy, and he will kill every Comanche who offers battle until none are left to kill. Or they kill him.
Brutal and visceral, poignant and captivating, unflinching and meticulously researched, the sequel to the award-winning Rescuing Crockett is gritty Western historical fiction in the tradition of Larry McMurtry, Paulette Jiles, and Elmore Leonard. All Hot and Bleeding explores of the lives of Texians and Comanches, the collision of societies certain of the rightness of their ways, and two young lovers’ odyssey of loss, retribution, and redemption.
