Will Gabriel sacrifice his own happiness to give his client a second chance at love?
I’m apprentice angel Gabriel Daniels, and this final assignment is asking more of me than I ever imagined I could give. My third and last client is Sam Jensen, and my task is to convince him to go back ten years in time for a second chance at love. If I succeed, I’ll finally be allowed into Heaven—and I’ll be able to watch over the people I left behind on Earth, the ones I still love.
But nothing about Sam’s past is simple. I can’t even tell who he was truly in love with back then. Asking him to go back could break hearts, and destroy relationships. The more I try to guide him, the more I realize the consequences won’t just change his life. They may change mine too.
As I help Sam confront the misplaced resentment he’s carried toward his adoptive family, my mentor, Thomas, quietly turns my own lessons against me. He shows me how my anger toward the father who abandoned me has stained every corner of my life—how it’s kept me guarded, bitter, and blind to the relationships I might have had. Including the one I never allowed myself to form with my half-sister.
In the end, I have to discover who the true love of Sam’s life really is and help him reach for her, knowing that every step I take toward his happiness may move me farther away from my own. Because this time, my mission may demand more than compassion or faith.
It may require sacrifice.
And I don’t know if I’m ready to lose Heaven for the sake of love.
