Leon Peter Blanda is a writer, musician, and stand-up comedian, born and raised in southern Louisiana.
Instead of college, Leon did other things, like… wait tables at Olive Garden; stand-up comedy in dive bars and theaters; retail sales for a department store during the Christmas season; play and record music in bands that eventually broke up; residential and commercial construction in Louisiana during the summer; attend open mics in establishments not meant for the arts; and produce, and star in commercials for a local-access TV station that only broadcasts to hotel rooms.
Look—if you’re the type of person who judges a storyteller by their educational pedigree, TV credits, or by the unbelievable number of open mics they’ve willingly attended in their lifetime, then you will not enjoy Leon, his work, or his company in a social setting. And that’s okay. It takes all different kinds of people to keep this crazy world spinning.
