Matt Elling Frost is a writer in his 30s based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He works primarily in the technology industry, but dedicates his spare time to writing.
In his own words: “I drafted Northern Minds ten years ago, in 2014, and it’s been sitting in a digital drawer, so to speak, gathering dust.
And ten years on, many of the themes I embedded in the narrative resonate even more strongly: artificial intelligence used for surveillance and abuse in digital spaces, unpunished sexual crimes, dealing with trauma and mental health issues, and coming to terms with the death of a loved one in an era of online isolation.
Of course, in the years it spent gathering dust, I’ve evolved my views on several ideas developed in the manuscript. But taking the opportunity to share some of the meaningful reflections I pondered in my twenties still feels like the right thing to do.
If I finish writing the sequel, I’ll get the chance to delve into some of the profound truths I’ve gone on to discover since then. That said, Northern Minds delivers a polished, self-contained narrative with an ending that stands on its own merits.
