Rainer Meri grew up in Estonia before moving abroad to pursue a career in filmmaking. He worked on a range of productions while continuing to write scripts on the side.
Drawn to sci-fi, fantasy and horror, particularly fast-paced, cinematic stories driven by intense action, he came to see the novel as the best format for the large-scale, character-driven narratives he wanted to explore.
Inferno’s Silence is his debut novel: a standalone dark fantasy story that lays the groundwork for a larger saga, inspired by real-world insurrections, authoritarian regimes, and Eastern European folklore.
