Mehran Baluch was raised by muppets and droids, which honestly explains a lot. British, but originally from Bahrain, he writes epic fantasy filled with swordplay, sorcery, airships, and the complicated messiness of being human. A long-time Dungeons & Dragons player and worldbuilder, he blends classic fantasy tropes—quests, ancient empires, haunted catacombs—with modern pacing and emotionally grounded characters.
Mehran has written many short stories across fantasy, science fiction, and the wonderfully strange. One of these was published in Aphelion, an online speculative fiction webzine. He holds an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Sussex (2004) and is a graduate of the Clarion West Write-a-Thon summer writing programme (2020).
His debut duology, Rogue’s Rebellion, follows Kyrin the Grey, a disgraced ex-hero pulled back into a shadow war of relics, tyrants, and long-buried magic. Expect cursed artifacts, skyborne battles, found family, tangled loyalties, and flawed heroes trying to do their best in a world falling apart.
