I live in the Netherlands, but I grew up in New York City, wanting from the beginning to be a writer. I studied at the University of Chicago and attended Clarion West before stepping away for twenty years to raise three children and work as a licensed massage therapist. In 2024, watching the world slide toward dystopia, I stopped reading the news and started looking for utopian fiction… only to discover how rare it is. When I couldn't find enough stories about worlds worth building, I began to write them myself.
Since then, I haven't stopped. I write speculative fiction that asks "what if?" across many landscapes—near-future social possibility, invented mythologies, fairy tale tropes turned on their heads. I'm drawn to stories that find hope and wonder in human potential, even when the world makes that hard to see.
I typically have at least three projects in motion at once, ranging from optimistic futurist speculation to deep dives into folklore and fantasy. I'm fascinated by history, wildlife ecology, and paleontology. Any or all of these interests might well find their way into future books.
