Laurie Summers is the pen name for middle grade author Ashley McLain.
When asked as an elementary school student what she wanted to be when she grew up, Ashley always replied, “One of the three As: astronaut, attorney, or author.” Too shy to try a sleepaway space camp and too uninterested in the extra years of schooling required for a law degree, she settled on interior design, which acted as a creative outlet for many years while she continued to type away stories in numerous Word documents but never had the guts to share them… until now.
In her spare time, Ashley enjoys throwing around heavy weights at the gym, running, and eagerly anticipating the next Renaissance Faire coming to town.
Ashley is a lifelong resident of the US southwest. She currently lives in Albuquerque, NM with her husband, daughter, and Border collie name Amethyst Matisse Rex McLain. They call her Amy for short.
