I fell in love with the medieval period while studying history at The University of Texas and never let it go. Even during my years in the software industry, I continued studying the Middle Ages and traveling throughout Europe to walk the cities, churches, and castles that shaped the world of my book.
My writing focuses on the political intrigue of 14th‑century England—the court maneuvering, royal scandal, and power struggles that inspired The Queen Among Kings, a historical novel centered on Isabella of France, Edward II, and the real events that led to the first deposition of an English king. In studying the early life of Edward III, I discovered Isabella’s true story and found it far more complex—and far more human—than the legends that came later.
After retiring, my wife encouraged me to finally write the book I’d been talking about writing for decades. I live in the Austin, Texas area with my wife, Pam, and our rescue dog, Polo. I enjoy traveling, writing, and obsessing over Texas Longhorns football. The Queen Among Kings launches a series exploring medieval political thrillers, Plantagenet politics, and the turbulent world of historical fiction rooted in true events.
