Author, pianist and composer Leona Francombe is of English and Czech heritage and lives in Belgium. She is the author of “Vaulted Night: A Novella of the Uncanny” (2026); "The Heron Legacy", (2024, winner of the Historical Fiction Company Book of the Year); "The Universe in 3/4 Time: A Novel of Old Europe" (shortlisted for the 2023 Eric Hoffer Award); "The Sage of Waterloo" (2015); "Madame Ernestine und die Entdeckung der Liebe" (2014) and many short stories and essays. Music and history are frequent themes in her writing, portrayed in suspenseful narratives featuring musical protagonists, or woven into European mysteries and adventures. Her piano compositions often reflect the atmosphere of her fiction.
