G C Chase always wanted to be a journalist but life took a different turn and so now instead journalists are the lead characters in both her Audrey Lord & Joe Barnes series (coming soon).
The Audrey Lord series are full-length novels set in the present day on the Mornington Peninsula, just outside of Melbourne, where the author lives with her family and untrained beagle. Audrey Lord has returned home with two kids and a shaky marriage to take a job on the local rag, determined to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.
The Joe Barnes novellas are set in pre-smartphone Sydney in the 1990s. Joe Barnes is young, ambitious, and desperate to be great if he can cut it in the high-pressure stakes of Sydney journalism and keep his demons from the past in check.
Both are ambitious. Both follow a story to its logical conclusion. Both are mavericks in their own right.
