The capital of California is Sacramento. I grew up about 30 miles east in a small town called Auburn. It is located in Northern California between Sacramento and Reno, Nevada, along Interstate 80 and had a population (in 1954) of approximately 4,653. It was so small, the grange hall was used for kindergarten because we didn't have a school in our area. It was a wonderful place to grow up. The small population meant that kids you went to school with in kindergarten graduated high school with you. Everyone knows everyone.
Instead of going to college, I spent my freshman year in Belgium. I went to school (high school) and lived with a Belgian family for a year. For me, it was an experience of being independent.
Once home, I got a part-time job at a title company, which led to a full-time position at a local mortgage company. I spent the next 45 years in the mortgage industry.
Now I write books that intrigue me. I have written two instructional books and am currently am writing sapphic romances.
