I work for a large university as a director in one of its institutes. In school I once told an instructor my concern about reading too slowly for the assigned number of pages. She said I'd have to learn to pick up the pace and skim, but also, that I wasn't a slow reader, just a creative one. My recent influences are Rafik Schami, Sayaka Murata, Roberto Bolaño, and V. E. Schwab.
