Madame McCoy first encountered the true story of the filles du roi while on a visit to Québec. A lifelong reader of romance, Madame knew immediately that she wished to use this history as the backdrop for a series of imaginary spicy seventeenth-century romances.
Standing in the way of Madame’s ambition was Madame’s alter ego, young adult author Nancy Werlin. However, upon discovering that resistance (which lasted approximately three and a half seconds) was futile, Nancy ceded creative control to Madame. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
As for Monsieur McCoy, he is amused.
