Carl Cruz-Nantel is a Tico Franco-Ontarian author from Ottawa and the creator of the Dream Mistress series. His debut novel, The Tree of Sacred Bounds, marks the beginning of the series and establishes the foundations of the wider Dream Mistress universe. Carl’s creative work draws inspiration from his Costa Rican heritage, including the folklore and myths of Costa Rica, as well as his spirituality as a Wiccan-Hellenist.
In 2024, he founded SDCHG, Soseunguk’s Dinetrikian Cultural Heritage Gallery, a candle business inspired by the cultures, stories, and lore of Dinetrikia, a planet within the Dream Mistress universe. He studied to become a veterinary assistant and, in his spare time, enjoys fantasy literature, theatre acting and improv, and video games, particularly RPGs and life simulation games.
