Lee Kaiser places her contemporary women's fiction intrigue in settings around the world. The Paths Unknown Series about women adventurers began in 2020 with Sutra of the Pearl, set in India and Tibet. The second, Towers of the Hungry Ghosts, was a finalist in the Eric Hoffer Book Awards. It takes place inside a former Transylvanian castle. The last in the series, Her Artificial Heart, published in 2025, takes place inside a former Maltese crusader fortress. Her interest in Buddhist themes began at monasteries around the world and in Canada. She previously worked as a journalist and editor in Japan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Mexico, and Canada and now divides her time between Mexico, Europe and Canada where she ponders new plots and lives with stray animals.
