E. J. Whitehead is an indie author based in Wales who writes dark romantic suspense with morally grey characters who have been through hell but refuse to stay there.
She started writing as a child but didn't finish her first work in progress until 2025 and quickly discovered that apparently one book wasn’t enough. Her debut, Mark of Amara, became the beginning of The Obsidian Games, a dark, interconnected world of obsession, trauma, revenge, found family and men who make questionable decisions for the fierce women they would happily burn the world for.
Drawing on her background in the Armed Forces, forensic psychology, counselling training and an overactive imagination, EJ likes her stories dark, messy and complicated—like life usually is. Her characters aren’t perfect, their relationships definitely aren’t healthy enough for a self-help book, and happily ever after usually requires surviving quite a lot first.
