Sara Porritt is a writer, singer, and the founder of Common Language Press, an independent publishing imprint creating thoughtful stories that open the door to conversations families might not otherwise have. Her work is grounded in curiosity, connection, and the belief that stories can help people see themselves, and one another, with greater understanding.
Shaped by her Asian American heritage and her experience raising children in a biracial family, Sara brings a culturally informed and deeply personal perspective to her storytelling. Her work across storytelling, media, and music reflects a longstanding commitment to belonging and human connection.
Sara lives in New Jersey with her husband Joe, and their children, River and Ava. When she isn’t writing, you’ll find her reading to her kids, singing, spending time in nature, or trying to enjoy a hot cup of coffee before it gets cold.
