Daniel Pandiyan immigrated to the United States more than twenty years ago. He is a technologist and an amateur artist whose reading runs to world cultures, religions, philosophy, and art. Sanctuary grew out of his own conversations with immigrants from Latin America who had made that journey north, and out of the questions their stories left him with. He lives in Chicago. It is his first novel.
