Scott Alderman was thrown out of college in 1978 and began working in the live music industry as a road manager, agent, and club owner. After getting clean in 1987, he worked as a counselor at an AIDS hospice in New York City and at psych hospitals and methadone clinics in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. He later held management positions at Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley, launched the Tattoo the Earth festival, and produced the first tattoo convention in Massachusetts. He eventually got a BA in Literature and Writing from Columbia University and is the author of two memoirs, Get Off and Caravan of Pain. Pier 45 is his first novel. He lives in Arizona with his wife and kid.
