Born and raised on a dairy farm outside a small Iowa town, D. L. Whipple grew up surrounded by the rhythms, silences, and hard truths that now shape his rural‑noir fiction. Though he wrote from an early age, he pursued a business career, earning a master’s degree and rising to CEO / President of two Fortune 500 telecommunications companies. Retirement brought him back to writing—the work he’d never truly left behind. He lives in Florida and spends part of each year in the mountains of North Carolina.
