David was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire. He has had Radio Plays on Radio 4, and BBC Radios Leeds and Sheffield. For a number of years he reviewed fiction regularly for The Observer, and he also wrote for The Independent, The Guardian, New Statesman and Society, The Yorkshire Post and The Times Educational Supplement.
David has also had short stories and poetry published. He turned towards crime fiction and novel writing when he studied for the MA Writing at Sheffield Hallam University. His first novel Stone and Water, published in 2018, is the outcome of that.
He is currently working on his second novel in the Inspector Bible series, Surviving Angel and a short prequel to Stone and Water.
David and his wife live in Sheffield and have three grown up children.
